The regular verbs are verbs which en in-ed, but, in pronunciation, there are three different ways to pronounce that past.

The idea is to add a /d/ sound at the end of every verb, but this will only be possible when the verb in infinitive ends in a VOICED SOUND (to go to the SOUNDS lesson click here). So, for VOICELESS sounds we will add a /t/ and for those verbs already ending in /t/ or /d/ sounds, we will add a new syllable /id/ or /əd/.

Here we have some examples with some common basic verbs:

needed /ˈnidəd/
wanted /ˈwɑntəd/
invited /ɪnˈvaɪtəd/

INTEGREATED EXERCISE:

Reading Comprehension: A Memorable Trip

Last summer, Emily and her friends decided to embark on an exciting adventure. They traveled to a picturesque coastal town in Spain. The journey started early in the morning when they arrived at the airport. They checked in their luggage, passed through security, and boarded the plane. The flight took a few hours, but they enjoyed the beautiful views from above.

Once they landed, they rented a cozy beachfront cottage. During their stay, they explored the local culture, tried traditional Spanish dishes, and visited historical sites. Emily and her friends met new people, exchanged travel stories, and made lifelong memories.

On the last day of their trip, they packed their bags, checked out of the cottage, and walked on the beach for hours. Then, Emily decided to buy some souvenirs for her family. As they drove to the airport, Emily felt a mixture of happiness and sadness. She knew that she had an amazing adventure, and she planned to travel again in the near future.
